Is your world crushing down on you?

I don’t want to be a Metal Sandwich.

Have you ever felt like you couldn’t do anything right? It seemed as that no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t succeed at whatever you were trying to accomplish? Or, if you did have some success, it would not remain very long.
I was reading Leviticus 26 this morning. God was giving instructions to the Israelites. He was telling them how to please Him, and warning them not to adapt to the cultures of the other evil nations. God was sending the Israelites in to the Promise Land to destroy and remove these cursed nations and their evil practices from the promise land.
First God gives a promise of reward for God’s people (the Israelites) obeying His instructions. Then, God gives the warning of what will happen if they don’t obey. God’s character is so beautifully consistent throughout the Bible. God tells His people that IF they/we remain in Him, He will bless them/us. Our life will be fruitful. BUT, if we don’t, we will suffer loss and consequences. Sin always causes damage to our promise land living. That is why sin should be avoided. Not because Jesus gives up on us, but, because Jesus wants to live through us. His life is poorly reflected through a dirty, warped, cracked, sin damaged vessel. Our life is fruitful when Jesus radiates from us through joyful unity with His Holy Spirit.
So what’s with the metal sandwich? Verse 19 jumped out at me. Being a song writer, I always love abstract lyrics. God is the master with words and His lyrics play my soul like a harpist plays his strings. These words… “I will break your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.” (Deuteronomy 28:23 God uses this analogy as well, but only in reverse, the sky bronze and the ground iron.) Picture yourself between an iron sky and bronze ground. As your rebellion continues, the iron sky continues to lower. It also provides no rain or sunlight to water and feed the contaminated fruit in your life.
If life seems to be collapsing upon you, and nothing seems to be going your way; it may be your disobedience to God’s instruction. I’m not saying that it is definitely your disobedience, but if you are trusting God, and want His will for your life, God will always provide a way for you to escape, and stand up under the pressures of life.
God will break all the barriers between you and He if you let Him. He doesn’t want you to be crushed under the weight of life’s circumstances. He wants you to reach out to him for the escape route. That’s why He carried your cross. He bore the weight of all the sins of the world on His back. He can easily bust through the iron sky and allow the light and rain through. You will live and thrive once again.

Don’t be crushed by the elements of this world. The sin of the world will crush you if stand in your own strength and try to military press the descending iron sky. Surrender the struggle to God. He will shatter the impending weight of gray in your life and bring forth the light.

Hey Pulsers,

Happy New Year!

Do you have any New Year Resolutions?

A resolution is a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.

Many people resolve not to do a bad habit any longer.

Others may resolve to do more of a good habit.

In either case, most people desire a better year than the one before.

Ben Franklin was quoted “Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.”

This Wednesday, we will be looking at what God says about resolving to have a better year. Here are a couple of His thoughts:

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18 & 19

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

There is an old expression from the 1600s “turning over a new leaf”. It means to turn the page. Move on from the past and look to the future.

We have to remove the book marker of the ugly things of our past, so we can look at the next page with great expectation. God is writing our story. He is the author. When you live life in the Spirit, you can keep God’s New Year Resolution for your life this year.

We will see you Wednesday.

Leave your sandals (The dirt of the world) at the door when you come in, for you are entering Holy Ground.

Peace Mr. Bonner

The Gift you can’t repay, but can “re-give”.

This week at Pulse, we studied The Magi or more traditionally known as “Wise Men”. When the magi found Jesus at home, they worshipped Him and they gave gifts of Gold, incense, and myrrh. They did this to pay tribute to the king of the Jews.

Gold is a symbol of Royalty and wealth. It is also a symbol of righteousness.

Incense is a symbol of Priesthood. It is also a symbol of Prayer. In fact, our prayers are incense to the Lord.

Myrrh is a symbol of royal burial. It was also used for medical purposes and incense. However, we know that Egyptians mummified their royalty with myrrh. We also know Jesus was preserved in the tomb with myrrh. John 19:39-40

So, when we gather these three gifts together, what can we take away from this lesson.

Our greatest Gift we can offer God, is ourselves. Everything good in us, is what He put there. So we offer back to Him what He already purchased with His death on the cross.

Our Gold (righteousness and Royal inheritance) is His. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (Psalms 72:1&15; 2 Samuel 8:11; Malachi 3:3; Isaiah 60:17; Revelation 3:18)

Our Incense (priesthood and prayers) is His. He after all is the High Priest. Our Prayers are our Spiritual incense, an aroma that He takes pleasure in.
(1 Samuel 2:28; 1 Peter 2:9; Psalms 141:2; Revelation 5:8 & Revelation 8:3-4)

Our Myrrh (symbolic to death to our sinful nature), is His when we received our new life in Christ. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Matthew 16:25 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:3-4
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15

We can never repay Jesus for the Gift of Salvation that He bought for us.

But we can re-give Christ’s goodness in us to someone else.

Because when we give our Gold, Incense, and Myrrh to those Jesus loves, we are actually giving it to Him. (John 13:34-35; Matthew 25:35-40)

Introduce Jesus to someone this year by offering them Christ’s love. This is the greatest gift you will ever give. This is the gift you can’t repay, but can “re-give”.
Peace, Chris Bonner

It’s been awhile since we’ve blogged. I believe God has been taking a big inhale with this ministry as we wait to see where His exhale takes us to.

We hope to see you tonight.

OK, maybe a snack or 2.

Breath baby,

Chris
